ERSTE PERSÖNLICHKEIT DES HUNDESPORTS HÄLT EINZUG BEI MADAME TUSSAUDS: WESTMEAD HAWK WIRD ALS „BEST OF BRITISH“ GEHULDIGT

Westmead Hawk, der Wunderhund des modernen Windhundrennens, stellt einen weiteren Rekord auf: Er wird der erste tierische Sportler, der es zu Madame Tussauds in London geschafft hat.

Die vierbeinige Legende erhält ihren Ausstellungsplatz in dem vor kurzem eröffneten Sportbereich der Touristenattraktion. Er wird persönlich zugegen sein, wenn sein wächsernes Ebenbild im Oktober zum Auftakt der Saison „Best of British“ in dem berühmten Wachsfigurenkabinett erstmalig enthüllt wird.

„Wir freuen uns über die Aufnahme von „The Hawk“ bei Madame Tussauds London“, sagte Marketingleiter Drew Potton. „Das Windhundrennen ist eine typisch britische und enorm beliebte Sportart, die Jahr für Jahr Millionen von Fans in ihren Bann zieht. Er ist der perfekte Star für die Eröffnung unserer Saison „Best of British”, bei der wir alle große Briten im Wachsfigurenkabinett mit Unterhaltungsprogrammen nach Themen und deutlichem Londoner Touch feiern werden. Wir sind sicher, dass unsere erste vierbeinige Sportlerpersönlichkeit bei uns den gleichen großen Erfolg haben wird wie während ihrer illustren Karriere auf der Rennbahn.“

The Hawk hat bereits eine Modellsitzung beim Studioteam hinter sich. Dabei wurden Hunderte von Messungen an allen Körperteilen sowie gründliche Farbabstimmungen für seine Augen und sein Fell durchgeführt.

Das Abbild von Westmead Hawk soll Mitte Oktober eingeweiht werden. Die Aktion „Best of British“ läuft bei Madame Tussauds während der Herbstferien.

David Lipsey, Vorsitzender des BGRB, kommentierte:

„Ich bin begeistert, dass The Hawk als Modell bei Madame Tussauds London stehen wird. Windhundrennen ist ein Kult und Teil der britischen Kultur. Daher ist es eine wunderbare Nachricht, dass einer der ganz Großen dieses Sports neben vielen anderen berühmten Sportlern Anerkennung findet. Tausende, wenn nicht gar Millionen Besucher aus Großbritannien und dem Ausland werden Dank der Wachsfigur diesen Sport erstmalig kennen lernen. Ich kann es kaum abwarten, die Figur im Oktober mit eigenen Augen zu sehen.”

FIRST CANINE SPORTS PERSONALITY FOR MADAME TUSSAUDS AS WESTMEAD HAWK
HAILED BEST OF BRITISH

Westmead Hawk, the wonder dog of modern greyhound racing, is set to
break another record by becoming the first animal athlete to make it
into Madame Tussauds London.

The four-legged legend will be depicted in the attraction´s recently
opened Sports Zone and will personally unveil his wax likeness to launch
a „Best of British” season at the top attraction in October.

“We are delighted to welcome The Hawk to Madame Tussauds London”, said
Head of Marketing Drew Potton. „Greyhound racing is a uniquely British
and hugely popular sport, thrilling millions of fans every year. He is
the perfect star to open our Best of British season where we will be
celebrating all of the Great Britons in the attraction, with themed
entertainment and a distinctly London twist. We´re sure our first four
legged sports personality will be as big a hit here as he has been on
the tracks during his illustrious career.“

The Hawk has already undertaken a sitting for the studios team where
hundreds of measurements have been taken of every part of his body and
careful colour matches made for his eyes and coat.

Westmead Hawk´s figure is scheduled to be unveiled in mid-October and
Best of British at Madame Tussauds will run over the October half term
period.

“I am absolutely delighted that a model of The Hawk is to feature at
Madame Tussauds London. Greyhound racing is an iconic part of British
culture and for one of its greats to be recognised alongside many other
sporting superstars is fantastic news. Thousands possibly even millions
of visitors from across Britain and abroad will be introduced to the
sport for the first time via the wax figure and I can´t wait to see it
myself in October.“
