| Irish dogs need help |
| 22. Juni 2005 Hi everyone, Niamh has sent photos and stories of some dogs she recently rescued - and one she couldn't. Their stories and portraits are on the AEGA website at: http://www.ameurogreyhoundalliance.org/0605irelanddogs.html Greyhounds and lurchers have a rough go of it with the gypsies in Ireland. Niamh and Marion do the best they can with very little resources to help those that they can. Because of Aerlingus' recent change in policy to not allow the dogs to fly to the USA except as cargo, they have several that they would like to send to Louise in Boston. If you or anyone you know is travelling to Ireland or planning a trip, it would be a great help if you could allow a dog or two to travel with you. American Airlines still has reasonable travel fees for dogs. You can email Niamh about this at queries@limerickanimalwelfare.com. 01. Juli 2005 Jacko has been rescued! Hi everyone, Marion has once again persevered and saved another poor soul, Jacko, a beautiful lurcher. God bless you Marion for all you do for the dogs. Here is Marion's update to Louise: Hi Louise, Jacko is safe at the Vet clinic in Castletroy. He does not even weigh 15 kg. He is so thin that it is frightening. I think his bones may come through his flesh. He is such a nice boy and just licked my hands. He does not have any mange. He is just suffering from severe malnutrition. He is being fed on Sensitivity Diet, and being kept under observation. We cannot do anything with him at present just rest and try and feed him. He is drinking water and does not need a drip. I also got a small beautiful black lurcher bitch in terrible condition. She had been badly bitten on the front shoulder and it is infected. I managed to get another bitch in for treatment but they would not give her up at present. However, she has Demodex Mange and is in a terrible state. I think it is very bad but the Vet agreed to treat her and see what can be done. She is also in season and running a temperature and has swollen glands. She will be seen again to-morrow. I could not look at any more after that. It is just so hopeless. Each one is more needy than the one before. Many thanks Marion. |
